All books listed are in mint or good condition unless otherwise stated. If an out-of-print book listed here has already been sold, we will keep a record of your order and, when we acquire another copy, we will offer it to you. If a book is in print but not immediately available, it will be sent when new stock arrives. We will inform you when a book is not available. Prices take account of condition; they are net and exclude postage. Please note that we have occasional problems with publishers increasing the prices of books on the actual date of publication or supply. For secondhand items, we set the prices in this list. However, for new books we must reluctantly reserve the right to alter our advertised prices in line with any suppliers’ increases. P OSTAL CHARGES & DISPATCH United Kingdom: For books weighing over 700 grams, minimum postage within the UK is GB £12.00. If books are lighter and we are able to charge less for delivery, we will do so. Dispatch is usually by a trackable three working day courier service. Rest of the World: Dispatch is by the speediest and most economical method, currently Royal Mail International (not trackable). We try to use services which are as inexpensive as surface postage, but are air-lifted wherever possible. Valuable ship- ments will be registered. Larger bulk shipments are dispatched by bag mail. Small consignments are sent by surface mail unless otherwise directed. Should you require a different service, such as air-mail or courier, please let us know your requirements. Please Note: If you enclose payment with your order, please add at least 20% to cover postage, observing the above minimum of GB £12.00. Any excess will be refunded or credited. Cloth. £50.00 Catalogue of an exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago exploring the cultural practices that evolved around ancient Chinese bronzes both at the time of their production and thence throughout Chinese history. This is the first in-depth study of the tradition of collect- ing Chinese bronzes and the influence that such bronzes later had on the concept of antiquity and antiquarianism in Chinese art. Much focus on bronze collections and collectors of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, in particular, emperors and scholars. Illustrated throughout with ancient bronzes from the Shang, Zhou and Warring States through to later bronzes from the Ming and Qing dynas- ties. Cloth. £180.00 Catalogue of the extremely fine collection of Chinese tomb figurines in the Aurora Art Museum with branches in Taibei and now Shang- hai. The figurines are predominantly Han and Tang dynasty but a few Northern Qi examples are present as is an intact and very ap- pealing Ming residential compound of buildings, figures and a pig. A total of 48 exhibits are shown. Many of these comprise groups of figurines — dancers, bearded Persian musicians, female musicians and the aforementioned Ming residential compound. Also fine fat ladies, horses and camels. A good and focussed addition to the literature on the subject. List of contents and captions to plates in English. Cloth. £30.00 The final volume of this ambitious history of a fascinating region. Covers from the 15th century up to the present day. Baumer shows how, during this period, Central Asia relinquished its pre-eminence to other rising empires, China and Russia, and examines its role in the Great Game, still being played to this day. Wrappers. £100.00 Catalogue of a loan exhibition at the Wuhousi Museum in Chengdu, China. Shows jades from the Baoji Bronze Ware Museum located in north-west Shaanxi province in China, together with a few objects from other museums in the Baoji area. The majority of the jades are Neolithic and Western Zhou with a few Warring States and Han examples. There is a smaller section showing Ming and Qing ma- terial. Boards. £90.00 Well-illustrated survey of the Datong Museum collection. The highlights are the Northern Wei material (when Datong was the capi- tal and known as Pingcheng) and the Liao and Jin material. Fine Buddhist sculpture and ceramics from these periods, together with other material from across the dynasties. Of especial note are seven examples of small Northern Wei glass objects and extraordinary appliqué gold cups with foreign influence.
