Fort Wayne took the lead in the bottom of the first on a leadoff homer by Jonny Homza, but the Captains bounced back with two runs in the third. Brayan Rocchio tied the game with an RBI double and Bryan Lavastida’s RBI ground out gave the Captains a 2-1 lead. Seamus Curran tied the game for Fort Wayne with an RBI East Division W L GB double in the fourth, but the Captains hit two homers in the fifth to take the lead again. Lavastida drilled a three-run, go- Dayton (Cincinnati) 17 14 -- ahead homer to dead centerfield. Two batters later, George Valera hit a solo shot to center to extend the Captains’ lead to 6-2. Homza hit another solo homer for Fort Wayne in the fifth to cut the Captains’ lead to 6-3. Lake County added a run in West Michigan (Detroit) 16 14 0.5 the seventh on an RBI single by Daniel Schneemann. Rocchio capped the scoring with a home run to lead off the ninth. Captains starter Hunter Gaddis struck out seven and allowed three runs over five innings to earn the win.
