Context Description of shock: During December 2020, the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) conducted military operations against AOG in different locations of Faizabad, Yaftal Sufla, Shahri Buzurg, Kuf Ab, Argo, Arghanjkhaw, Raghistan, Khash, Jurm, Tishkan, Darwaz Balla Kohistan and Yawan district of Badakhshan province including one HH from Khanabad district of Kunduz province. Fighting have been ongoing for several days in the aforementioned locations and resulted the displacement of 70 HHs who fled to center of Faizabad city. After receiving the notification on 9 November 2020 about the displacement in the aforementioned districts, an online OCT meeting was held by UNOCHA on 9 November 2020 to verify the alert and form the joint assessment teams. The JATs conducted the assessment between 7 December 2020 to 23 December 2020. A total of 120 households were prescreened out of which 70 HHs were identified as potential eligible and assessed through the HEAT tool. Following data analysis only 70 families were found eligible to receive the humanitarian assistances. Based on field coordination with OCHA, it was agreed that WFP will provide food in-kind to all 70 HHs, DACAAR will provide WASH assistance to 70 HHs and CONCERN will provide the NFI items to all 70 HH. Needs and recommendations IDENTIFIED NEEDS The food consumption score is reported poor for only 69 assessed Households (99%). of IDPs declared that they borrowed/relied on help from friends/relatives or neighbors for Food staple food or borrow money to spend on food or essential household needs. But the food consumption score only for one HH is reported acceptable. NFIs All the Households (100%) are in need of NFI that needed sleeping mats or mattress 70 HH 100%, plastic Tarpaulin 55 HH (79%), Cooking pots of 5L or more 70 HH (100%), Stainless steel cups 46 (66%), Water storage containers 44 HH (63%), Gas cylinder (5kg); solar lamp 69 HH (99%), Clothes for women/men/children 58 HH (83%) Sanitary items for women and girls 33 HH (47%), Mobility or assistive devices 5 HH (7%) which will be provided by DACAAR. Financial All 70 Households experienced a drop in income as a result of a shock. status 1 Households are in debt within the range of 2000 to 8000AFN. 69 HHs are in debt with more than 8000 AFN. Shelter 47 Households (67%) reported that they are living in the House (concrete or brick), 19 HH (27%) living under the Tent or makeshift shelter (including mud house), 4 household (6%) Living in the Unfinished or abandoned building. WASH 93% of the Households reported that they have access to enough drinking, cooking and bathing water, 2 of assessed beneficiaries (3%) reported that they are using from Hand Pump/Bore well as their water source, 6% of assessed beneficiaries (i.e. 4 HHs) reported that they are using the water from Dug well, 86% of assessed families (i.e. 60 household) reported using the water from Pipe Scheme as their main source of water, 1% of assessed families (i.e. 1 households) reported Reported using the water from Unprotected Spring, 4% of assessed families (i.e 3 households) purchasing the water, 8 Households (11%) of the assessed families are reported using from family latrine, 40% (i.e 28 household), using the community latrine, 49% households (i.e 34 households) reported do not have the latrine. Protection Only 3 protection case is recorded during HEAT assessment from the field and referred to ORD-UNHCR for contribution. PLANNED RESPONSE MPCA and Winterizat 0 ion cash assistance Food WFP will provide two months food ration in-kind for all 70 HHs , NFIs CONCERN will provide the NFI items for all 70 households, WASH DACAAR proposes to conduct the following assistance: 1. Implementation of hygiene session to all 70 IDP families; 2. Distribution of 70 sets of hygiene kits to all 70 IDP families; 3. Distribution of plastic garbage bags (8 garbage bags/family) to all 70 IDP families. 4. Distribution of 5 plastic chair for 5 HH who have physically disability. 5. Construction of 34 EBL latrine for 34 HHs who are practicing the open defecation. 6. Distribution of 1 sets of plastic BSF for 1 IDP families who have been collecting water from Stream/river. 7. DACAAR will conduct the WASH re-assessment for those families who do not have access to safe and clean water for drinking, cooking and bathing, as well as for latrine. Protection ACTED Protection officer will follow this caseload during distribution as well that in case of observing any protection case to be reported, COVID-19 ACTED ERM team will expand their COVID-19 awareness program during distribution by Response establishing hand washing facilities, hanging posters in the site, providing hand sanitizer and masks for IDPs to use before and after receiving the assistance, and distribution of COVID-19 leaflets and factsheets. “Report Prepared By ACTED” .
