Summary of Project Outcomes: • Partnership with SOS Children (Mindelo Social Center - S. Vicente Island and SOS village in Assomada (Santiago Island) - the national youth champion (U-14) and the junior national vice champion are children of this program; • Chess in Prisons (S. Vicente and Sal islands) – more 50 inmates participate in this program; • Chess for Peace (Cape Verde Military Services) – 25 military participate in this program; • Chess in Schools Program - more than 30 students participated in a monitor course aimed at introducing chess into schools and more than 10 schools have been covered. University education (2 universities) have also introduced chess; • National Team – participate in the African Games in Morocco and the Under 16 Zonal in S. Tomé and Príncipe; • National Championships – Youth: 50 players (played on Santiago island – south); Senior: 10 players played on Santiago island - north); Nacional Individual - preliminary: 24 players (played on S. Vicente island); Nacional Individual - final: 8 players (played on S. Nicolau island); • TECHNICAL TRAINING – Three courses were held for National arbiters; • CHESS EQUIPMENT - Various equipment, including games and watches, was purchased for use by the • Federation and donated to clubs, prisons, SOS villages, etc. NOTE: • Trainers and Organizers Seminars were postponed until 2020, because ACC didn't give Ok in time. • CHESS TOURISM - International Open tournament: This event was postponed until the end of April 2020 to be held in conjunction with the seminars. 4. Our strategy is to ensure that there is total inclusion and unity through chess in this area. Introducing chess to disadvantaged children so that they are fully included is one of our strategies and we have partnered with SOS Cape Verde.
