Your reputation as a woman of action in political life precedes you and I am confident that your leadership will bring a unique influence to the essential expansion of liberal values in the Baltic countries and beyond. Indeed, as the first non-European and second female president of Liberal International, I am especially pleased to congratulate you as the first female prime minister of your country. Estonia is a country famed globally for its early embrace of technology into political life. Indeed, we were proud to have welcomed a number of your colleagues to our 199th Executive Committee meeting in Johannesburg in 2017 and share their experiences with the global liberal family. Indeed, we know that liberals have long been ahead of the curve in this regard. That is why today, digitalisation is one of the top 3 priorities for LI’s human rights committee and I hope that we can look forward to future collaboration in the near future and to welcoming you to one our high-level events when the COVID pandemic is behind us. Dear prime minster, we live in challenging times. But the route over of some of the world’s greatest obstacles, including COVID and climate change, stems from an evidence-based approach, international collaboration and free markets; in short these are routes grounded in liberal values.
