Announcements for the Week of March 14 -20, 2021 Dispensation to End Easter Sunday

Announcements for the week of March 14 -20, 2021 Dispensation to End Easter Sunday Bishop Silva announced that effective Easter Sunday, April 4 or as of the Easter Vigil, April 3, the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, which has been in effect since mid-March, 2020 will end. However, anyone who is sick, may have been exposed to anyone with Covid-19, or who has a health condition that would endanger themselves or others by being present in church, continues to be dispensed. Fr. Joseph Leaving Hawaii Fr. Joseph’s 9 year contract with the U.S. Province of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts ended and he has been asked to return to India. He will remain with our parish until after Easter. Next week, Fr. Joseph will be addressing the parish after every Mass. If you would like to bring a card or letter for him at that time, he will be available for some time after the Masses. Lenten Parish Mission There will be a Lenten Parish Mission here this Wednesday, March 17 at 7 PM. Our featured guest speaker will be Fr. Lane Akiona of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts. We are very fortunate that Fr. Lane has agreed to join us this year. Our Parish Penance Service will be held on the following evening, Thursday, March 18, also at 7 PM. Please invite your friends and family to join us. Registration for Holy Week and Easter Masses We are currently working very hard to plan Holy Week events in a safe manner. We will be taking registrations for Holy Thursday Mass, Good Friday services, and Easter Masses just as we did for Christmas. Please see our volunteers in front of the church to register or call our offices during business hours. OLGC School Rummage Sale OLGC School Parents as Partners Group is hosting a Rummage Sale next weekend. The sale will be open after the Masses on March 20 and March 21. It will be closed during Sunday School classes between 9:30 and 11:45. Parishioners are welcome to stop by to look through the offerings of clothing, household goods, and other supplies. We are also hoping to have a couple of food trucks present on Saturday evening and on Sunday after the 11 am Mass. All Health guidelines will be enforced and masks must be worn. Parish Projects We want to announce that we have two projects that are currently underway. The first is the replacement all of light fixtures and light bulbs at the church, parish offices, and OLGC School. These will be replaced with new, energy efficient fixtures. This project has been made possible thanks to a grant through Hawaiian Electric Company utilizing CARES ACT funds. Our second project is to have a metal and plexi glass shading installed over the office courtyard. This will be much more resistant to the wind than the temporary canvas type covering we had in the past. The covering will give our Outreach Ministry clients some covering during rainy days and will give us an extra space to hold events and meetings. The covering can be relocated in the future. More than half of the project was funded through a very generous donation by AA Appraisal Services. The rest of the project will utilize Building Fund donations. Thank you for your continued support..
