The Lord has called all of us to live in peace and harmony with one another and we are called to light a candle rather than to curse the darkness, to build bridges with our neighbors and get to know them better and allow them to know us better. As we live the beautiful moment of the Easter Season let us rejoice with the Apostles who witnessed the risen Christ and to bring that message of the Resurrection to all people who are still living in darkness and death and announce to them the new life that is Jesus. He is the only hope of the word and without Him there is no eternal life. This life is ours, but not to keep, but to share with the world around us. May you be pure temples of God the Holy Spirit and sacred tabernacles of Jesus, who resides in you through the Holy Eucharist. With the Newly Ordained Fr. Mikael Jalkh, we continue to celebrate this beautiful season with you and hope always for a better tomorrow and greater joy in the Lord Jesus. His heart and soul were so connected to our parish. Growing up with his wife Elizabeth in our parish, they established a blessed marriage together. Duane was a man of integrity, honesty, and faith. He spent much of his time serving our parish and the community at large. He gave from his heart and used his time, talent, and treasures so wisely, to build up our community. He has chaired countless events in our parish, giving it much strength and richness, among them chairing the National Maronite Conventions (NAM), the 100th Anniversary of our parish, the Ordination of Fr. Rodrigue Constantine, the grand banquet welcoming Patriarch Sfeir, the elevations to Msgr. and Chorbishop of Abouna sharbel, the visit of the Maronite Patriarch Rahi, chairing the Annual Taste of Lebanon for over 20 years and chairing the annual Scholarship Dinner for 38 years, just to name a few. Duane was a mentor and a support to so many, young and old, and a great example of leadership, giving with love and faith. We will miss his presence from among us. Our task is to keep his spirit alive and his memories eternal. His wife Elizabeth and children Lisa, Laurie, Bruce, Karen, and Paul, along with their families, wish to thank you all for standing near them and by them at their great loss.
