FODC101 Local Development Plan 2030 Draft Plan Strategy October 2018 1 CONSULTATION ON The FermANAgh ANd OmAgh LOCAL deveLOpmeNT pLAN drAFT pLAN STrATegy – 26Th OCTOber TO 21ST deCember 2018 Fermanagh and Omagh district Council is consulting on the Fermanagh and Omagh Local development plan draft plan Strategy 2030 for an 8-week period commencing on Friday 26th October and closing on Friday 21st december at 12.00 noon. Comments, or representations made in writing will be considered at an Independent examination conducted by the planning Appeals Commission (pAC) or other independent body. The purpose of an examination is to determine whether a plan satisfies statutory requirements and is sound. In carrying out the examination, the Commissioner will apply a series of tests taken from the department of Infrastructure’s development plan practice Note (dpNN) 06 (See www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk). before submitting a representation, you are strongly advised to read this guidance which clearly sets out the soundness tests which will be considered. It is also recommended that you read the pAC’s guidance entitled ‘procedures for Independent examination of Local development plans’ available on their website www.pacni.gov.uk Commenting on the Draft Plan Strategy To make comments on the draft plan Strategy document, you can: Online • Use our online response form at www.fermanaghomagh.com • download a response form at the same web address. The Local development plan will set out the framework for future planning and sustainable development of the district until 2030. Councillor The draft plan Strategy is the first formal stage of our Local development plan and Howard Thornton follows on from the preferred Options paper of 2016. It takes account of the Chairman particular characteristics of our district and the views of our residents, consultees Fermanagh and Omagh and Council members on the planning framework for the district until 2030. District Council All elected members have been actively involved in the preparation of the draft plan Strategy through workshops, consultations and the cross party Local development plan Steering group which has provided valuable input into the development of the policies and in ensuring that they reflect the needs of our local area. At its core, the draft plan Strategy shares the vision of the Council and the Fermanagh and Omagh Community plan 2030 of a “welcoming, shared and inclusive Fermanagh and Omagh district, where people and places are healthy, safe, Brendan Hegarty connected and prosperous, and where our outstanding natural, built and cultural Chief Executive heritage is cherished and sustainably managed”. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council The Local development plan aims to meet the needs of all the people of the district by creating sustainable communities through housing, job creation, enterprise promotion, tourism support, provision of services and community facilities within the context of a healthy, well planned natural and built environment. The Local development plan will help to shape the district’s future development and growth and will set out the planning policy framework for making day-to-day decisions. We would like to thank all those for their engagement in this process thus far.
