Bud was a well-known auctioneer who had celebrated his 50th year as an auctioneer earlier this year. The antique and auctioning community were extremely proud of him. He was also firearms and militaria collector and a longtime Member of the MCC of C. The MCC of C’s executive and membership send their heartfelt condolences out to Bud’s family, friends and business. 4 Military Collectors’ Club of Canada Fall Issue 2016 A note from the Editor, I can’t believe it’s already fall, this summer has come and gone far too fast if you ask me. I am thrilled to report I saw a surge in articles over the last month from members of the Club. I want those who did take the time to put something on paper that I am very grateful for the work you put in. I think the Members will agree! I want to thank Martin for doing a such a fantastic job finding a new printer for the Club, and I think we can all agree the Journal looks much better in full colour! As the Editor I am fortunate enough to see everything in its full glory when I begin construction on the Journal, so it’s exciting that you all can enjoy that as well. Since we do have the means to print in full colour, we have a better opportunity to include photos alongside articles so please include lots of photos to accompany your articles. That said, my pursuit for new and exciting Journal articles is endless, so I will continue to use my spot to try and entice you to submit something to be included in Journals to come. I honestly can never have too many so even if you’ve become a regular contributor please keep them coming. Some Questions you could answer: Who/ or What was the catalyst that got you into collecting? Why do you collect what you do? What are some of your most memorable experiences with the MCC of C? What sets your collection apart from others? Where has this hobby taken you? (Travelling abroad) How to tell the difference between authentic and reproduction items? How you felt when you finally found that item you’d been hunting for all these years? Where did you finally find this item? How did you track it down? Does your family have a interesting military history? Or a collection that’s been passed down a generation or two? The list goes on, do the Club a service and tell your story today! Editor, Nicholas C. Beck (#3442) Military Collectors’ Club of Canada Fall Issue 2016 5 Secretary - Treasurer’s Update Hoping all members and their families had a good sum- mer and that for families with kids returning or travel- ling to school, the transition progressed smoothly and all are settled into their routines and schedules. Since Calgary’s 2016 AGM in March, it has been an ex- citing and busy time for me. Ongoing tasks include the completion of an extensive revision of our Club’s By-Laws for Executive and eventual Membership review and the ongoing updating of our Club’s current and historical membership and awards databases. I even managed to unwind on two mini holidays. Spent a week in Princeville on Vancouver Island with my wife which included a visit to Nanaimo’s Bastion and Vancouver Island Military Museum. Then guided a tour through central Montana with a friend visiting Indian Wars sites including the Rosebud, Little Bighorn, Fort Benton and a day at the 98th edition of the Crow Nation’s Crow Fair, the largest Pow Wow in the world with an encampment with over 1,500 Teepees. Club Business Updates MCC of C Journal Update During production of the Spring 2016 Journal, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (NAIT) Printing Services informed the Executive that after printing this edition, they were no longer providing external printing services and that the Club would have to seek another company to print future edi- tions. After contacting companies and receiving quotes a new printer, Minuteman Press Beltline in Calgary, was contracted. Having received your Summer 2016 Journal, we hope you noticed their changes including the perfect binding and full colour format. The process of locating,
