Grade IX 2018 STEM EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE Project “BAL VIGYAN” - STEM Center (with the New Delhi Government) March 2019–Present ● Transformed an abandoned and dilapidated government center, into a STEM Center benchmarked by the Children’s Science Centers of London, Montreal and Singapore. ● This STEM Centre will impart practical knowledge in STEM subjects, to over 50,000 children studying at the 150 Delhi South Zone government run schools for the underprivileged. ● The curriculum is sourced from the Government of India’s National Curriculum Framework (NCF). ● NCF framework covers 230 scientific concepts that children between the age of 5 to 10 years must learn. 80 of these concepts are exhibited here for an experiential interaction. There are static, dynamic, audio visual and interactive exhibits, for example the Solar System, Human Body, The Water Wheel. LEADERSHIP Founder, and Head of The Shri Ram School STEM Society, Member of Student Council March 2019-Present • Launched the STEM Newsletter, hosted seminars on AI and ML, organized a virtual science experiments competition. Currently developing a greeting robot. • During COVID-19 STEM Society launched an online competition for the high school students to create 3 minute AVs of home experiments under the NCF. Was hugely successful with over 50 video submissions. Assembled a team within the society to converge this into an AV exhibit for the Middle School Science Lab Julia Robinson Math Festival Student Leader October 2018 ● The Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival sponsors mathematics festivals in schools for grades K-12 ● Appointed to lead this initiative. The event was designed to introduce 450 middle school students to various concepts of mathematics through a collaborative and non-competitive forum. CLEAN ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCES E Rickshaw conversion to Garbage Carrier December 2019-June 2020 ● PATENT applied for the Mechanism. Project received The Shri Ram School 2020 INNOVATOR AWARD ● Converted an E Rickshaw to an E Garbage Carrier for a Residential Enclave ● Ideated, designed and engineered the vehicle with a mechanical crushing device that compacts the dry leaves. This optimises volume to max payload of 500Kg making the garbage service runs productive and efficient University of Pennsylvania (Coursera): Exploring Renewable Energy Schemes March 2020 • Online course exploring multiple forms of renewable energy with special emphasis on solar energy. Yale Young Global Scholars: Applied Science & Engineering June 2019 • An intensive course on topics ranging from Astrophysics to Forensic Sciences. The Capstone Project was on Quantum Computing and Machine Learning Internship at ZF India Pvt. Ltd. LITERACY EMPOWERMENT Founder: Project Bookmark: Building Libraries within Junior MCD Schools January 2018-Present ● Built 3 libraries in Junior Government Schools for the underprivileged in New Delhi. The libraries cater to students from Classes 1-5 and contain books of many genres. Crowd sourced over 6000 books and funds for the libraries. The libraries support 900 children, they have been inaugurated by Delhi Government officials ● During COVID-19, made and distributed a computational thinking workbook to develop problem solving skills in children of Classes 4-5 Shri Unnati: Head Teaching Volunteer, Economic Empowerment April 2019-March 2020 ● Co-Headed a school initiative to empower the domestic help in school to be more technologically capable ● Volunteered and taught basic data entry skills and use of Microsoft Word. Prepared them for grade 10 NIOS exams in the subjects of Hindi and Mathematics ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION SCUBA Diving - PADI certified Diver December 2019-Present ● PADI certified to dive up to 12m anywhere in the world. Presented sustainable initiatives for future city planning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC),UN Head Delegate August 2017-April 2018 ● Represented India on an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change held in Edmonton, Canada ● Aim was to assess the state of academic knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of climate change in Urban metropolitan areas ● Published a joint white paper with the vision to inspire youth and converge future political thought and manifesto around the impact and science of climate change for cities. The paper appealed for inclusion of Climate Change Science as a mandatory subject in school curricula COMMUNITY OUTREACH Balwadi Programme Self Defence Teaching Volunteer April 2019- March 2020 ● The Balwadi programme is a school run initiative for underprivileged children of migrant workers from villages around our school. Trained young girls in basic self-defence to stay safe in their neighbourhoods Happy School March 2017–March 2018 ● Volunteered to teach thirty children in government schools basic math concepts like division and fractions. .
