Heritage Itinerary Day 1

Heritage Itinerary Day 1

Heritage Itinerary Day 1: Ludlow Castle This castle ruin is a glorious insight into medieval society. As you walk the grounds you will see the houses and rooms of a different world, one which would have been home to kings queens and royalty. http://www.ludlowcastle.com/ Day 2: Wroxeter Roman Village and Vineyard The fourth largest roman city in Britain, Wroxeter Roman village has as much to offer today to the modern visitor as it did to the Romans who once inhabited it. The most popular modern attractions are 2nd century municipal baths and remains of the wall in the city centre that once divided the baths and exercise hall. www.wroxetervineyard.co.uk Day 3: Much Wenlock Priory A beautiful ruin situated in Wenlock of an anglo-saxon monestary. This particular site is lucky that much of the once majestic building still stands tall. There is a real sense of history that can be seen through the ancient carvings set in the stone of a town that is infamous for its historic Olympian games. http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/wenlock-priory/ Buildwas Abbey The Buildwas Abbey ruins are quite simply remarkable in the fact there is so much still standing. The 12th century church, tile floored chapter house and crypt chapel are as beautiful as the surroundings they have as a back drop. http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/buildwas-abbey/ Day 4: Weston Park A stately home with an interesting history and strong character. It is home to not only the manner house but as well 1,000 acres of land, and on that land sits a restaurant, art gallery and farm shop. The land and manor house are open for tours a viewings regularly and is well worth a look. http://www.weston-park.com/ Day 5: Attingham Park This is another stunning manor house with much to see and offer. The house itself offers a range of differing decoration between rooms including a fully laid dining room set for an evening banquet, a stunning walled off garden and many beautiful park walks. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-attinghampark/.
