Widening of Tolo Highway / Fanling Highway Between Island House Interchange and Fanling

The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation HK Branch Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation Jointly Organized Site Visit to Widening of Tolo Highway / Fanling Highway between Island House Interchange and Fanling (Stage 1 – between Island House Interchange and Ma Wo) Date: 24 September 2011 (Saturday) Time: 9:30am to 12:00pm The Contract comprises widening of a 2.4km long section of Tolo Highway from Island House Interchange to Ma Wo. The widening works are proposed to alleviate the traffic congestion problem on the Tolo Highway. The scope of the contract mainly includes: • widening of Tolo Highway from existing dual 3-lane to dual 4-lane between Island House Interchange and Ma Wo; • widening of the interchange section at Island House Interchange from existing dual 2-lane to dual 3-lane, including realigning the various slip roads; • reconstruction of highways structures comprising Banyan Bridge, Banyan West Bridge; • construction of Bridges No. 10A, 11A and New Lam Kam Railway overbridge; • modification and stitching of existing Bridge No. 10, 11 and Lam Kam Railway overbridge; • replacement of the existing road restraint system with new types of parapets and roadside barriers; • slopeworks and construction of retaining walls; • installation of noise barriers; and • ancillary works including civil, drainage, structural, geotechnical, traffic aids, landscape works, waterworks, fire hydrants installation, and electrical and mechanical installations associated with the road widening works. Registration The number of participants is limited to 20 . Members wishing to join the site visit are requested to complete the reply slip and return it by fax to 2818 7077 by 21 September 2011 . It will be on a first come first serve basis with priorities given to members of the Institutions. Applicants are required to note and sign the following return slip regarding neither the Institution nor the parties concerned accept any liability in connection with the visit. (Please note that applicants will be banned for 3 consecutive visits if fail to turn up after successfully accepted) Assembly Place 9:15am at 11 Dai Wah Street, Tai Po Industrial Estate, Tai Po, N.T. (Location Map will be sent out together with the confirmation email.) Protective Safety Equipment Visitors must put on their own safety shoes, Safety Helmet, Reflective Vest for this visit.
