
Consumer Price Index in the Month of Aban of the Year 13991 Increase in National Point-to-Point Inflation Rate Point-to-Point Inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the corresponding month in the previous year. The point-to-point inflation rate in the month of Aban2 of the year 1399 stood at 46.4 percent, that is to say, that the national households spent, on average, 46.4 percent higher than the month of Aban of the year 1398 for purchasing “the same goods and services”. Moreover, in this month, the point-to-point inflation rate experienced a 5.0 percentage point increase in comparison with the previous month (Mehr, the year 1399). The point-to-point inflation rate for the major groups of "food, beverages and tobacco" and "non-food items and services" were 56.6 percent (with a 16.1 percentage point increase) and 41.8 percent (with a 0.1 percentage point decrease), respectively. This is while the point-to-point inflation rate for urban households stood at 45.7 percent, which increased by 4.4 percentage points in comparison with the previous month. Moreover, this rate was 50.3 percent for rural households which increased by 8.1 percentage points in comparison with the previous month. Decrease in the Monthly National Households Inflation Rate The monthly inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the previous month. The monthly inflation rate in the month of Aban of the year 1399 stood at 5.2 percent, which decreased by 1.8 percentage points in comparison with the previous month (Mehr, the year 1399). The monthly inflation rate for the major groups of "food, beverages and tobacco" and "non-food items and services" were 13.0 and 1.6 percent, respectively. 1It is the Iranian year which usually begins on the day of 21 March of Gregorian calendar. Increase in the Annual National Households Inflation Rate The annual inflation rate refers to the average percentage change in the price index in a year ending the current month in comparison with the same period in the previous year. The annual national household inflation rate for the month of Aban in the year 1399 stood at 29.0 percent, which increased by 1.8 percentage points in comparison with the previous month (Mehr, the year 1399). Moreover, the annual inflation rate for urban households is 29.0 percent, which has increased by 1.7 percentage points in comparison with the previous month. This rate is 28.8 percent for rural households indicating a 2.1 percentage point increase in comparison with the previous month. In the main group of "non-food items and services", the highest increase in prices went to "hotel and restaurant" group (ready-maded meals), "furniture and home appliances" group (gas heater, detergents, plastic kitchen appliances) compared with the previous month. Also, "transportation" group (types of passenger cars) has decreased in price compared with the previous month. Price Index Percentage Change in the National Expenditure Deciles in the Current Month The range of an annual inflation rate in the month of Aban of the year 1399 for various expenditure deciles was fluctuating between 26.3 percent for the first decile (those with the lowest income) and 35.2 percent for the tenth decile (those with the highest income).
