Promotion of Dialogue and Generation of feedback on the performance of the District ........ 4 VISION The West Gonja District Assembly is to ensure the overall social and economic development of the District such that the standard of living of the people would be improved in line with the National Policy on social and economic development. MISSION The West Gonja District Assembly exists to improve the standard of living of the people by coordinating the activities of all stakeholders to ensure improved service delivery. FUNCTIONS OF THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY The West Gonja District Assembly subject to article 245 of the Constitution and Act 462 shall; 1. Exercise political and administrative authority in the district, provide guidance, give direction to, and supervise the other administrative authorities in the district. 2. Perform deliberative, legislative and executive functions. 3. responsible for the overall development of the district and shall 4. ensure the preparation and submission through the regional co-ordinating council the development plans of the district to the National Development Planning Commission for approval, and budget of the district related to the approved plans to the Minister responsible for Finance for approval; 5. formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilisation of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district; 6. promote and support productive activity and social development in the district and remove any obstacles to initiative and development; 7. initiate programmes for the development of basic infrastructure and provide municipal works and services in the district; 8. responsible for the development, improvement and management of human settlements and the environment in the district; 9. responsible in
