NINTH SESSION OF THE MEETING OF PARTIES 29 September – 1 October 2021 Tallinn, Estonia Water Convention Harry Liiv, Vice-Chair of the Bureau, Estonia 15th meeting of the Working Group on IWRM under the Water Convention (Geneva & virtual, 30 September - 2 October 2020) Estonia and Water Convention • The Convention ratification act was adopted in Estonia on 3 May 1995 • Estonia became a party to the Convention on 16 June 1995 • In 1997 Agreement Between Republic of Estonia and Russian Federation on the Protection and Sustainable Use of Transboundary Watercourses • Since the same year Estonian-Russian joint commission on transboundary waters Water Convention MOP9 29 September – 1 October 2021 Tallinn, Estonia • HIGH-LEVEL SEGMENT: 29.09.2021 Water and Peace • Side-Events organised by partners and countries • Possible back-to-back event • Priorities for the future trienninum for the Convention to be decided during the MOP9 MOP9 location: Tallinn, Estonia • Tallinn, capital of Estonia, is located in the northern part of the country, with population of 437 000 people • The historic charm and with one of the best preserved medieval-era city centres in Europe, mean that Estonia can offer some unforgettably unique event venues • Tallinn Airport is only 15-minutes’ drive from city centre Venue: Tallinn Creative Hub (Kultuurikatel) • Historic power plant • Additionbuildingto thethat has been plenaryfully, roomsrevampedfor and side-eventspreserved, EU .
