UTV signs three film deal with leading South Producer-Director N. Lingusamy Mumbai, July 11, 2011: UTV Motion Pictures today announced a three film deal with the renowned South Indian Producer-Director - N. Lingusamy of Aanandham, Run, Sandakozhi, Bheema and Paiyya fame. The studio will co-produce, market and distribute three power packed films - Vettai, Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and Kumki, in association with the director’s own banner, Thirrupathy Brothers Film Media. The first film Vazhukku Enn 18/9, will be written and directed by ace director Balaji Sakthivel, who has directed blockbusters like Kadhal and Kalloori. Slated for a September 2011 release, the film will have a new star cast, with music by debut composer Prasanna and camera-work by Vijay Milton. Next is the action packed entertainer Vettai, releasing in November 2011. Directed by Lingusamy himself, the film stars popular South stars Arya, Madhavan, Sameera Reddy, Ashutosh Rana and Amala Paul. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes the music and Nirav Shah is the DOP. 2012 will see a film from Prabu Solomon, who recently delivered the critically acclaimed super hit film Mynaa. His next titled Kumki will feature the upcoming star in the making - Vikram Prabhu, son of popular actor Prabhu and grand son of Sivaji Ganesan. With this association, UTV Motion Pictures has six releases lined up in Tamil cinema, beginning with Deivathirumagal (releasing on July 15th), followed by Cheran and Prasanna starrer Muran ; three films with Thirrupathy Brothers; and finally Mysskin’s Mugamoodi starring Jiiva in April/May 2012.
