Lewisburg April 18: The Afro-Cuban All Stars Embracing several generations and all musical styles, this unique orchestra has always been devoted to performing the full range of Cuban music. For many more events, go to www.VisitCentralPA.org and click on “Events” Now- May 11: Lewisburg Arts Council 50th Anniversary Celebratory Exhibits The Lewisburg Arts Council is celebrating its golden anniversary in 2019! The Arts Council was officially incorporated in 1969 and has been going strong ever since. In addition, this year is the 50th Lewisburg Arts Festival – now part of the two-week Celebration of the Arts (April 26-May 11). Two exhibits celebrate some of this 50-year history: “Art in Retrograde: 50 Years of Festival Art” shows some of the earliest and some of the most recent posters and programs for the Lewisburg Arts Festival and Celebration. Dozens of items are on exhibit at Gallery 255, Public Library for Union County for the entire month of April. “Twenty Years of Featured Artists” highlights 15 former Featured Artists with both new and familiar work. The exhibit will run through May 11, Tuesday to Saturday, at Faustina Gallery, 229 Market Street, Lewisburg. Both exhibits are free and open to the public. April 17-27: Union County Library Events The Union County Libraries offer special and ongoing programs for adults and children. Gun Sense (4/18) Shari Jacobson, PhD of Susquehanna University, speaks about Gun sense, focusing on how to keep our families and communities safe from gun violence. Learn about Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement fighting for public safety measures to protect people from gun violence and Moms Demand Action campaigns for new and stronger solutions to gun laws and loopholes. Celebrate Earth Day (4/22) Enjoy engaging, hands-on Earth and space science experiences with connections to science, technology, and society. Homeschool Daze: Code Breakers (4/24) Explore more about the math behind different types of codes and why they are used. We’ll reveal how secret codes can be created and how you can “break” these codes. Helping Hands Fundraiser (4/26 & 28) Leave your mark on the LCM by painting a handprint and signature on the hallway wall. Cost of participation is $20. Parent's Night Out with BVRA at the LCM (4/26) Or should we say Kids Night In?! Children will spend time in the museum followed by pizza, popcorn, and a movie. Courtyard Kick-Off (4/27) Enjoy fun painting activities in the Museum’s courtyard, which is short walk from the downtown Lewisburg Arts Festival hosted that same day.
