Jim Lemcke, director of the UM Office of Public Safety, said the student was locked out of his dorm room at about 10 a.m. and fell when he attempted to cross the narrow ledge outside the study lounge window to re-enter through his dorm window. The student, who was not identified, hit the flat roof hanging over the Miller Hall entrance on Arthur Avenue three stories below. The student was taken to St. Patrick Hospital.
