Yammer is one of the ways you as an Improvement Facilitator will collaborate with your Community of Practice. It is a social network, with access limited to invited members, created especially for use in a professional setting. It provides a common place for people to share experiences, to learn from one another and to keep up to date on what’s happening within area of interest. “Yammer is about connections – connections between people, teams, information and ideas… it’s like a bank — the more you contribute and deposit, the more you can withdraw.” Expected Benefits of Community of Practice Participation Members of the community are expected to garner benefits with participation such as: Building connections between improvement facilitators within and across primary care organizations Increased improvement facilitation competency (knowledge, skill and behaviors) Internal mentoring Spread of screening process redesign Spread of quality improvement principles beyond ASaP in Alberta Continuous professional development of members Working Assumptions for Members Members will appropriately anonymize all clinic, physician and primary care team member names in discussions Membership and topics reflect primary care organizations and practice improvement issues Members are willing to share successes, challenges and lessons learned Members strive to create an environment of trust and to foster insightful, non-threatening discussion of ideas and experiences Members agree to be respectful and use appropriate language in group discussion and to listen and respond to each other with open and constructive minds Members will not be afraid to respectfully challenge one another by asking questions, but refrain from personal attacks – focus on ideas Members will contribute to an atmosphere of problem solving rather than stating positions The Yammer Basics Getting Started How to Join Yammer You will receive an invitation via email to join the ASaP Improvement Facilitators Community of Practice.
