Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated the Gazetted Officer‟s Mess of Chandigarh Police at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Sh. Rajender P. Upadhyay, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, D.I.G., U.T., Chandigarh, Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP, U.T., Chandigarh along with other Senior Officers from Police Department were also present on this occasion. Inspector General of Police briefed the facilities provided in GO‟s Mess in his welcome address. Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS also inspected the newly built Gazetted Officer‟s Mess which is covering total area of 11487.4 sq.ft consisting ground floor of 7057 sq.ft and first floor 4429.26 sq.ft. The Gazetted Officer‟s Mess is upgraded to latest facilities (i) Reception Area (ii) 5 Suites + 2 Standard Rooms (iii) Family Sittings (iv) Dining Hall (v) Toilets & (vi) Kitchen etc. 2. 25.05.2016 Passing Out Parade of the 17th batch of 96 recruit constables (54 Males, 42 Females) was held at the Parade grounds, Police lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh on 25.05.2016. His Excellency, Governor Punjab & Haryana and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Professor Kaptan Singh Solanki took the salute. Shri Amarjit Singh Cheema, IPS, DIG-UT Chandigarh, administered oath to these young recruits. Shri Tejender Singh Luthra , IPS, IGP-UT Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest and presented a report about the training of recruits. He stated that these constables were provided adequate exposure in the fields of Criminal law, Medical Jurisprudence, VIP Security, Human Rights, etc. They have also been imparted training in Mob Control, Weapon handling, Yoga, P.T. and Parade. Special workshops on topics like Cyber Crime, Bank Frauds and Gender sensitization, etc. were also held. After passing out, these recruits will undergo a commando training course at Bahadurgarh (Punjab). His Excellency, the Governor Punjab & Haryana and Administrator Chandigarh, in his official address appreciated the hard work put in by these recruits during their training. He congratulated the IGP-UT for the work of Chandigarh Police in providing security to the City Beautiful inspite of the growing challenges and scarce resources. Out of these 96 constables, C. Mohit No. 2095/CP stood All- Round 1st, 1st in Indoor Examinations and also 2nd in Outdoor Tests. C. Ashwani No. 2105/CP and C. Yogesh No. 2000/CP, both stood All Round 2nd . C. Gurdeep Kaur No. 2063/CP stood 2nd in Indoor Examinations, C. Balwant No. 2084/CP 1st in Outdoor Tests, C. Surinder Singh No. 2310/CP 1st in Firing Tests and C. Rimple No. 2086/CP 2nd in Firing Tests. Head Constable Gursahib Singh No. 194/CP awarded with Best Drill Instructor Award, SI Prem Nath No. 509/CHG CDI-RTC, SI Omvir Singh No. 851/CHG and SI Avtar Singh No. 816/CHG awarded with Award of Honour. All Prize winners awarded with Trophies. 3. 06.06.2016 Feliciation Ceremony for wards of Police Families On 06th June, 2016 the felicitation ceremony was held in the Multi Purpose Hall of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest of the function. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest. Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP/UT along with other officer of Police department was also present on this function. During Felicitation Ceremony, Police scholarship was distributed among the 64 police wards who has secured 85% or above marks in the examination in their respective class i.e. 6th to 12th during academic session 2015- 2016. The prize amount approximate 6.5 lac was distributed among the wards of Chandigarh Police families present at the function. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh, in his official address appreciated the scholarship recipients and encourage them to work hard in future and to achieve their goal. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh for the work of Chandigarh Police in providing security to the city beautiful inspite of the growing challenges. 4. 15.07.2016 Training program on Stress Management & Medicine Free Life One day Training program on Stress Management & Medicine Free Life has been organized by Chandigarh Police in association with National Education (NGO), Nagpur (Maharashtra) in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Tajender Singh Luthra , I.P.S., I.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and supervision of Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, I.P.S., S.S.P, U.T., Chandigarh. 125 police personnel (Inspectors, SIs, ASIs, HCs, and Constables) from all units of Chandigarh Police have attended this program. Dr. Nilesh Charpe (Naturopathist) and his team from National Education (NGO), Nagpur (Maharashtra) has delivered lecture to the participants. He told the methods to keep our life 70% medicine free. He said that we can live stress free and medicine free life by keeping ourselves in contact with nature and by adopting the basic principles of Naturotherapy i.e. Morning Walk, Yogaashan, Paranayam, Acupressure, Herbal remedies and by using the routine available Kitchen materials. On 22nd July, 2016 the felicitation ceremony of Meritorious wards of Chandigarh Police Family, was held in the Multi Purpose Hall of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra, President Chandigarh Police Welfare Society, was the chief guest of the function. Dr. Mrs. Manjinder Kaur Gill, (Member Chandigarh Police Welfare Society) welcomed the Chief Guest. Wives of other senior police officers along with all Lady Inspector were present on this function. During Felicitation Ceremony, Police scholarship was distributed among the 60 police wards who has secured 85% or above marks in the examination in their respective class i.e. 6th to 12th during academic session 2015-2016. The prize amount approximate 5.75 lac was distributed among the wards of Chandigarh Police families present at the function. 7. 01.11.2016 50th Raising Day of Chandigarh Police Chandigarh Police has been playing a key role in keeping the city beautiful-Chandigarh, a role model city as was dreamt by its planner Le-Corbusier. Chandigarh Police was raised after the declaration of Chandigarh as Union territory on 1st November, 1966. The first Chief of Chandigarh Police was Sh. V.K. Kalia, SSP. The post of IGP was created in the year 1981 and 17 Inspector General‟s of Police have been appointed till date. Presently, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS is the Inspector General of Police. SSP Chandigarh (for maintaining Law & Order), SP/Operation & training (for training and special operation), SP/Traffic and Security (for maintaining Traffic & Security arrangements in the city) and SP/IRB are working under Deputy Inspector General of Police. Today the number of police personnel in Chandigarh police has reached to 6000 to maintain security, law & orders and traffic arrangements in the city. Chandigarh Police has launched various modern and e- governance schemes which are as follows:- Community Relation Unit I-Click (Instant Complaint Logging Internet Kiosk) Know Your Case Single Window for Community Interface SMART 24x7 Citizen Safety App Feed Back Mechanism Senior Citizen Scheme Community Liaison Group Crime Stopper Whatsapp Number Tourism Police Mobile Police Stations Women Police Station Lost Article/Document App (25000 reports have been registered till now) Online Police Clearance Certificate (800 citizens used this service) LIMS (lawful interception monitoring system) Chandigarh police also got two drones to keep watch in crowded places and Thermal Imager to keep watch on criminal‟s hidden place like in jungle areas. To mark this occasion, today, a parade was organized in Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. His Excellency Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest on the occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, DIGP, Sh. Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS, SP/Ciy and Sh. Roshan Lal, SP/Communication and law & order along with other police officers their families and retired police officers of Chandigarh Police were present in the function.
