Jovian planet occurrence scales as the square of the number of iron atoms Science Question: Are jovian planets formed by core accretion, which depends critically on quickly accreting a ~10 Earth-mass core out of metals from the protoplanetary disk? Answer: The planet-metallicity correlation supports the core accretion mechanism, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
