Snoop and his crew set fire to the island during a 90 minute performance of old school favorites while smoking the compulsory blunts and sippin’ on gin and juice. DJ Jam broke up tracks with cuts and scratches while Snoop threw down a set saturated with smoked-out favorites like “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “Wrong Idea.” Lighting up to raise the accompanying question, the boys asked “Do gangstas run this muthafucker? \Or do ladies run this muthafucker?” to a massive but mellow crowd which included a dancing Alicia Keys sandwiched between two enormous bodyguards. “2 of America’s Most Wanted” had 2Pac’s original verse mixed with Dogg’s live wild style as Snoop paid tribute to an old friend, encouraging the crowd to repeat “We love 2Pac”. Snoop mostly performed off 1993’s Doggystyle with gansta anthems like “Murder was the Case” “Lodi Dodi” and “Gin and Juice”. After a “moment of silence for a small chronic break” Dogg made a dedication to “all my Rude Boys in the house” with “Serial Killer”. “The Next Episode” briefly hyped the masses but was cut surprisingly short before the grittier sounds of “Pump, Pump”. Cool and calm with original swagger Snoop dropped tracks that kept the rude boys hyped and island girls loose as he finished of his set with a little gem from Tha Last Meal “Snoop Dogg (What’s my Name? - PT.2)” before raising the epic question and finally giving the people what they wanted with “Who Am I? (Whats my Name?)”. Snoop Doggy Dogg muthafuckers, that’s who. SnoopDogg.com By Kassandra Guagliardi Copyright © 2004-2009 ABORT Magazine. All Rights Reserved.
