Join a CTE Program Technical Theatre In the Technical Theatre Program we work behind the scenes on real plays and musical performances. Students explore scenery, costumes, props, lighting, audio, and rigging in a hands-on work environment. This is a two-year program which aims to equip students with the knowledge, know-how, skills and/or competencies required in Technical Theatre fields. Suggested Course Sequence: Year 1: Technical Theatre 1-2 Yeaer 2: Technical Theatre 3-4 CTSO: International Thespian Society Industry Certification: OSHA – Construction www.TempeUnion.org/Technical-Theater 11/2017 Technical Theatre Technical Theatre 1-2. Students will acquire knowledge of design, construction, costuming, make-up, sound, lighting, and other technical aspects of theatre production. They are afforded hands-on practical experience that may lead them into technical careers. Technical Theatre 3-4. Provides students the opportunity to practice leadership roles within the class while refining and advancing their skills in design and production and mentoring level 1-2 students. Students with a passion for specialized aspects of technical theatre can pursue tasks that are more challenging, additional responsibilities, and critical leadership roles through Technical Theatre 5-6 and 7-8. Students in this course are required to participate in technical theatre roles for campus theatre productions and events. Students may also enroll for honors credit is they select the Honors Technical Theatre Exploration and Performance option for levels 5-6 and 7-8 of the program.
