McAfee, age 86, of 7688 Weitz Rd. in Celina, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Celina Manor Nursing Home Celina, OH. He was born on February 26, 1926 in Coldwater, OH to the late Charles and Ocie (Rabe) McAfee. On February 8, 1947 he married Betty Smith, who died February 12, 1998. Rodney is survived by: sons Dennis & Gwen McAfee of Celina, Steve & Dora McAfee of Celina, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife brother Kirby McAfee and sister Marjorie Wick. Rodney graduated from Celina High School in 1944 and went to RETS Technical School in Detroit. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Thuban (Aka19) and received the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon One Star and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Rodney owned and operated McAfee's Communications in Celina and retired in 1989. He attended First Church of God in Celina and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #5713 of Celina. Funeral services will be Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp- Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Burial will follow in Buck Cemetery, with Military Honors by the V.F.W. and the American Legion Post of Celina. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. MCANALLY, Tenia L. McAnally, age 56, of 203 N. Wayne Street in Mendon, OH died Friday November 20, 2015 at her residence. She was born April 15, 1959 in Tullahoma, AL to Kenneth and Sarah Louise (Haynes) McAnnally. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Louise Baker of St. Marys, OH; 4 brothers, Anthony (Mary) McAnnally of Ohio City, OH; Eddie (Jessica) Baker of Celina, OH; and Michael (Angie) Baker and Preston Baker both of St. Marys, OH; and 1 sister, Lisa Baker of St. Marys, OH. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth McAnally. Prior to her illness, she had worked for the Cook Co. Board of Elections in Chicago, IL. She will be remembered for her kindness to animals. She was especially fond of dogs and exotic birds. She also enjoyed sewing and making all types of crafts. McAuley (Abstracted from Schlosser Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, Ohio, 24 May 2019) Virginia T. McAuley (Giggie), age 95, passed away May 24, 2019 at home in Pagosa Springs, CO. She was born September 26, 1923 in Belington, WV, the fifth child of Frederick Earl and Lenora Stalnaker Thompson. Giggie graduated from Point Pleasant High School in Point Pleasant, WV in 1941 just prior to America’s involvement in WWII. She passed her Civil Service Examinations shortly thereafter and moved with her parents to Washington, DC to work in the Annuity Division of the Social Security Administration. During those war years, her parents, sister Mary Ann, and nephew JP McVicker maintained a home together, enduring the hardships of rationing and life on the home front. Giggie married the love of her life, Wayne E. McAuley of Summerfield, OH on September 8, 1946 after his return from four years of active duty as an Army medic in the Pacific Theater. They moved to a variety of Ohio towns and cities during the early years of their marriage due to Wayne’s chosen work as a funeral director. They purchased the Weygandt Funeral Home in Waynesfield, Ohio in 1957, making their home in that community for almost 30 years and serving the many families there. Giggie worked side by side with Wayne all those years, bringing a sense of grace and dignity to the funeral home activities. Giggie was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, which she supported in many ways through her presence, helpful works and contributions. She sincerely believed in God’s teachings and strove to live her life with that in mind. She was a past member of the Bethel Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Giggie is survived by her only daughter Mary Beth (Joe Slater) of Pagosa Springs, CO; one nephew and two nieces with whom she was particularly close. Her husband of 46 years, Wayne E. McAuley, parents Mr. & Mrs. Fred E. Thompson, brothers, Wilfred A. Thompson, Robert E. Thompson, and John A. Thompson; sister Mary Ann McVicker all preceded her in death. MCBRIDE, Perry Dean McBride (Abstracted from the Evening Leader, St. Marys, Ohio – 25 February 2020) Perry Dean McBride, age 91, of St. Marys, died Friday Feb. 21, 2020 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born Aug. 25, 1928 in Miami County to Paul and Alberta (Eller) McBride. On Dec. 5, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta he married Kathryn A. Cook, who died Jan. 25, 2014. Survivors include daughter Dawn Cunningham of West Jefferson; four grandchildren: Justin (Tiffany) McBride, Nicholas Cunningham, Kelly (Terrence Hoening) Cunningham and Carly (Ian Williamson) Cunningham; two great-grandchildren: Easton McBride and Cheyenne McBride and sister Jennifer Baker of Dayton. Preceded in death by parents Paul and Alberta McBride; wife Kathryn McBride; daughters Cynthia McBride and Deborah McBride and sister Rebecca Martinez. He was a graduate of Bradford High School. He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys. In addition, he operated McBride's Income Tax Service for many years. Mr. McBride proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His memberships included Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1492 and VFW Post No. 9289, all in St. Marys. The cornerstones of Perry's life were his family, his faith and his pride of America. He will be remembered as forthright, outspoken and fiercely loyal to those who knew him. He was a big fan and supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and St. Marys Roughriders sports programs. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
