Candidates for admission into the Freshman Class are required to write Latin grammatically, and to be well versed in Geography, Arithmetic, six sections in Smyth's Algebra, Cicero's Select Orations, the Bucolics, Georgics, and iEneid of Virgil, Sallust, the Gospels of the Greek Testament, and Jacob's Greek Reader. They must pro- duce certificates of their good moral character. The time for exami- nation is the Friday after Commencement. Candidates for admis- sion into the other classes will be examined also in the books, which have been studied by the class, into which admission is requested. Scholars from other Colleges, before they can be examined, must produce a certificate of their regular dismission. The Geography to be studied may be Morse's, Worcester's, or Woodbridge's. N. B. Fisk's Greek Grammar is recommended, and also the Latin Grammar of Andrews and Stoddard. Particular attention to the writing of Latin is urged as essential to a suitable preparation for the College Course. COURSE OF STUDY FRESHMAN CLASS. 1. TERM. -Anabasis of Xenophon, (three books.)
