Highlights: known as ‘Elephant Rocks’ [6.4km]. The trail then connects with quiet country • Elephant Rocks roads to take you through to Weston. • Vanished World Fossil Sites From here you rejoin the old railway • Maori Rock Art Sites line and continue to Saleyards Road. • Historic Tokarahi Branch Rail Line Proceed along the sealed cycleway • Historic Rakis & Tapui Sandstone until you enter the Oamaru Gardens. Block Tunnels Bike through the gardens, passing • Oamaru Historic Victorian Precinct the Aquatic Centre to the Main Street • Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony (Thames Street). Turn right on Thames • Steampunk HQ Street, then past the i-SITE, turning left on Itchen Street. Follow the historic trail • North Otago Museum to the Oamaru Harbour where the trail • Oamaru Gardens ends at Friendly Bay, adjacent to the Victorian Historic Precinct.
