Traffic Analysis of the KY 8 Corridor in Bellevue and Dayton Kentucky June 2009 Prepared by the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments Acknowledgments Title Traffic Analysis of the KY 8 Corridor in Bellevue and Dayton Kentucky Abstract This report provides an inventory of the existing and potential traffic conditions along KY 8 (Fairfield Avenue) in the cities of Bellevue and Dayton in Campbell County Kentucky. The inventory provides a baseline condition and forecasted future condition to aid in evaluating transportation improvements throughout the corridor. The study corridor on KY 8 extends for 1.3 miles from Riviera Drive in Bellevue through Berry Street in Dayton. This report also documents the travel demand modeling and traffic simulation that was conducted by OKI to support this study. The inventory and simulation provide a baseline condition to aid in evaluating future transportation improvements throughout the corridor. The study corridor on KY 8 extends for 1.3 miles from Riviera Drive in Bellevue to Clay Avenue in Dayton. Information for this report comes from field observations of travel times and traffic conditions within the corridor, OKI’s Geographic Information System and OKI’s travel demand and simulation models. An overview map, an aerial photo and photographs of selected locations are provided in Figures 1, 2 and 3. Section 2 provides a demographic overview of current and forecasted 2030 population, household, and employment information. Section 3 summarizes the existing travel performance of the corridor based on observations of travel time and speed. Section 4 describes the process to develop the traffic simulation and presents the simulation results with projected changes in travel performance assuming the expected changes in local demographics and regional travel. Also included in this section are results of one alternative intersection improvement and screen shots of simulation images. Section 5 provides some conclusions of this traffic analysis. 1 50 e n g b o b a s a 2 s r 5 B t P e a t e W P t n i n i a b r S o C a y m r r n e u e b B W d n al l k a a er t S W a t t t s d i k M e r V r homas 3 e Fort T r r a h l r o l t i m L 5 a a C R a aw d h Bro n B m n n h s 2 e t l Figure 1-1 n 7 a B d M o e t vi mo M E n ew ry e e a n i n K No do a rt w w h R l M h l o t id t i n 6 ge ly n h n l w t H k y ll e i e y 5 a r H o y n d n r p c r s a o t a i n n l U h n e i DAYTON a c e R r g r h a o t C k a O r P t o w i e e D 7 s e d n S M e r l o v r a U T l l s P il G o o f v D a e e C a s Miami d B y m 8 s H n t az o o e ST o n e g y n h e e R e r la t T y u w C l G n t l a t t y 0 n a r o l y lm C F o g set l r a Sun e e r a 5 o d B L l h t y i k nn H t t H e o a be n t u e h h D t o s t a h t d n R o y WARRENo e n r e a t m n r 4 8 o S r o n i C u o S B a w m e B 3 m r xi t g i s l e e r K i o e m r e f a g s m i u d d w h g h e n e D e D t e t k d d h t i d n e V T a s r y B r t i i 0 n a t s o o 2 d r y R l McKinne 9 a v o c a 1 F i r a i p R g O r D i P in P l G r r S e r n t a S s a t e n a e l e v d n C v F o c s r o l a M i l n Ervin c s a r Erv S M e e in BUTLER sid C S e a n d w G y o s i o w G o W n le CLERMONT k o h R o L d s r n r i t o R llevue/Dayton Kentucky Route n 8 Study Corridor a c HAMILTON e o R E c 9 k y Miles P k ne h v a n K Vine Vi n il l e n l m n a p le o I r e p r U Maple a s g 1 M i n T CAMPBELL h L h r n a F e t t i y u t r h r d u HAMILTONo lo Be t r r d a a d 4 y 5 n s t l t n 7 Walnu 3 H i n s w s i e ld a e r e e l i h W u h e W k e i t h y h C f s o a Thornton v t t h p r a a a s e 8 t 1120 i o d Y 4 0 s n ST w KENTON n r i L S a m 5 t t a n ar 1 p du e a l s F e O Fallon O'fallon Truma t o i N n n a g i A n r K BOONEd d i h o o t n l f G R I O M f Voast s u Van li CAMPBELL e F C Gould Gould r k c ine r Ward s Ma DEARBORN k A a Printers r en o n P w o d Foote Foote ry r d n r e E Kennedy e t n 2 e h a Washington o 5 k d S r r e W r i L l t E Covert Run e a a l t 0.5 t s a n P p e n n c e e o s i o r e d o e t n L n i t l i n e d Taylor p n t P l e s C e r e h r e i n s a U y d i h v e a g r v R s a t o i N n l K i E e e r g w u n 8 M m m n a i e D t s n a a P m l e o v e a s o l r p i r S e e B o B r s l K a r V e n Ber y R r u i o ry C Ber r 0.25 d A z q s F e BELLEVUE l il s a S o g l i a o z t C e e t g Robson e x G Crescent l t it a R r r k n a a i n n G K f i u l P a n r o b o a s o B P C a e y p L m u o t m m k i s a e t 0 R a h t 471 a e p p e O n m m m 1 G Riviera Ra 47 Ra p u a o H s R am h e p p p T m h am mp a d C a h R R n R t O a t ak 1 6 r a ch 7 Watc G 2 o Bee 4 h Hill 89 R b Linden 1 am r en p e ind L 1892 n ST v M i ap e o le in h V h s n t R h l t t e g 9 e w 8 4 n g n Park i o ch rk y r N i d r a B r P r i e B A l rnold r R s Mo m h r nro e e a e A d t C A O a verton Boone W Hamlet h t 0 Washing t 5 ton 2 s 1 e R 1 r h oberts t r o 7 Sar h atoga F t Da 1 yton 1 27 ¡27 John h John t 7 h h t O t rchard 1 h 6 4 t 1 1 Y 5 ork 1 Putn h am t 3 Co 1 lumbia h t A 2 nn 1 9 9 KST KY 8 Study Corridor Legend Figure 1-2 Aerial Photo of KY 8 Study Corridor ST8 471 K Miles Legend 0 0.2 0.4 KY 8 Study Corridor Figure 1-3 Pictures of Selected Locations KY 8 near Berry Street in Dayton facing east KY 8 near O’Fallon Avenue facing east KY 8 near Berry Street in Dayton facing west KY 8 facing near Taylor Avenue facing west KY 8 near O’Fallon Avenue facing west KY 8 east near Taylor Avenue facing east 4 KY 8 near Berry Avenue in Bellevue facing west KY 8 near Berry Avenue in Bellevue facing east KY 8 near Berry Avenue in Bellevue facing west KY 8 near Patchen Avenue facing west 5 d d d o n D 2 n w o n k n n n i U w a M o y a n l k C th th n 5 6 Bo U o ne th D n 7 a w yt o on n y k a Berry n l U C h mont t Bel d i 4 e h R t d r Dayton 8 Dayton 3 e k d h th g w t r n a 0 e 9 a Figure 1-4 i 2 s McKinney 1 v P r O i t e Ervin a n s n F a l o r Ervin DAYTON o R G c n n w Edwards i L o h t n 9 k Vine n n Ke o m h U per t e s Maple Mapl ri 7 r h y t d a h t d r 5 H 4 a 3 Walnut s h r k e e h h S h r t t
