Humanity Road – Philippines Activation: Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) Situation Report Publication Date: November 8, 2013 Additional Information: Social Media Situation Report Highlights Social Media is very active in the response to the Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. Most of the activity occurred before the landfall while emergency organizations issued emergency instructions. Humanity Road volunteers were activated to support the relief operations. According to the NDRRMC, a total of 151,910 families were evacuated to 664 evacuation centers in 31 provinces. Roads and infrastructures have been impacted. Significant damages to houses have been reported. Coordination is in place for organization of relief efforts. Humanitarian organizations have deployed teams in the Philippines to assess the situation. At the request of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Digital Humanitarian Network was activated to support the relief efforts.
