YOUNG MAN COMMITTEE TOR TRIAL. At the Glebe Police Court, before Mr. Barnett, S.M., Arthur Quigley, aged 27, was charged with having taken out of the posses-sion of her father, Letitia Adeline Jackson, aged 16 years and 6 months. Mr. Maddox Cohen appeared for the accused who was ar-rested by the Caperted police. The evidence of Letitia Adeline Jackson was that she had been acquainted with the ac-cused for about two years. Lately she had been employed In a restaurant in George street. Tho accused asked her to go away with him, but at first she refused. He asked her to go to his sisster-In-Iaw's place at War-ren Gunyah, but she refused. Finally she met him by appointment at the Central rail-way station and he purchased two tickets. Thoy both left that night for Glandulla. near Mudgee, and the next afternoon they pro-ceeded to Warren Gunyah. The accused and witness occupied the same tent from the Mon-day to the Friday, when sho returned to Syd-ney. The accused paid her fare to Sydney, nnd told her to go to the Haymarket Post office for a registered letter on the following Tuesday. She did so but ther was no let-ter. The accused had told her he could get Into trouble over this affair Had she not slept in the tent she would have had to sleep In the bush. There was another tent occu-pied by the brother-in-law of the accused and his wife, but they refused to allow her to occupy that tent. Plain clothes Constable Robertson stated that when arrested, the accused admitted having taken the girl away and paid her fare by rail but he denied that they had been living together. The girl had been living with his brother's wife.
