CALL FOR SCORES The 2006 Society of Composers Region II Conference will be held at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY on Friday and Saturday, November 10 and 11. Scores from all SCI members are welcome, but preference will be given to members of Region II. The available performing resources include: a college chorus (app. 60 voices), a small college chamber choir, a jazz combo, a Javanese gamelan (pelog, no gender), a string quartet (the Clinton String Quartet), the Syracuse Society for New Music (flute, oboe, clarinet, soprano or alto saxophone, piano, percussion, violin, cello), and members of the performance faculty (piano, voice, cello, solo percussion). Composers who can bring their own performers are strongly encouraged to submit works. The submission of electroacoustic works (two-channels only), with or without video (DVD), and with or without soloist or ensemble, is also especially encouraged. Each composer may submit one or two works from 3 to 20 minutes in duration. Submission must include: • a score (if available) and CD recording (a MIDI rendering is acceptable) of each work submitted • a list of performers, if provided by the composer • for electroacoustic works, a description or list of technical requirements • a separate sheet with the composer’s name, address, telephone number, email address, and the title, duration, and instrumentation of each work submitted • a SASE if you wish to have these materials returned (they will also be available to be retrieved at the conference). Submission deadline: May 1, 2006 (postmarked). Selected composers must provide all required performance materials; Hamilton College will not pay rental costs. Attendance at the conference is required of all composers whose works are selected. CALL FOR PAPERS The 2006 Society of Composers Region II Conference will be held at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY on Friday and Saturday, November 10 and 11. There will be opportunities at the conference for the presentation of papers on topics related to the composition of music in the years since 1960. Paper proposals from all SCI members are welcome, but preference will be given to members of Region II. Papers should be 20 minutes in length and proposals should include a one-page abstract and contact information: presenter’s name, address, telephone number, email address.
