MEDIA RELEASE SCORCHERS SCHOOL HOLIDAY CRICKET CLINIC With the sensational T20 Big Bash League reaching record crowds around Australia it’s time to get the kids to the #Furnace for their summer of cricket fix. Perth Scorchers and Inclusion WA have joined forces to bring you an awesome school holiday cricket clinic. On 20, 21& 22 January, kids (ages 5- 14) of all ability levels will get to play games of T20Blast like their hero’s, on the historic WACA Ground and even meet some Scorchers stars. This exciting opportunity allows kids to get involved in cricket where they can develop their skills on and off the field. Events like these can encourage kids to get involved in the development of their communities and actively make a difference while forming invaluable life skills along the way. The aim is to not only enjoy the sport of cricket in a world class environment but to also focus on self-improvement. The cricket clinic kicks off on the 20th of January 2015 from 9am-12pm and runs for 3 days. Day 3 is a high performance session with a chance to extend skill development and get expert training from specialist coaches. The boys and girls will get the opportunity to play cricket at the WACA ground that has been host to some of the greatest players of all time. Through this program, players can develop their skills but it also educates players on how to get involved in the local sporting community. These key skills are easily transferred to the other clubs and groups and will hold participants in good stead for their future. The kids benefit greatly in becoming socially involved and developing networking skills and new friends. Creating an environment like this is essential for future community growth and provides participants with a chance to be a part of the Perth Scorchers family. Through sport we learn responsibility, teamwork, hard work, confidence and many more positive life skills that have a positive outcome for our local communities and their development. “Cricket clinics like these provide an essential foundation for young cricketers as well as help create networks in and amongst the cricketing fraternity.”- Brad Denham, WACA. This clinic is open to all members of the community regardless of past experience or skill level. The course costs $90 for Days 1 & 2. These costs cover insurance, food and refreshments. Make sure to bring a hat, water bottle, sports shoes and sunscreen. A fun day to be had by all!
