WIL?* *what is love? Krista Dzudzilo and Reinis Dzudzilo kim? Contemporary Art Centre, Riga January 14 — February 22, 2015 The three words in the questioning abbreviation of kim? Contemporary Art Centre in Latvian stand for “what is art?”. The artists of the exhibition have chosen to ask a different, way more extensive and, by all parameters, larger question — “what is love?” (“kas ir mīlestība?” or also “kim?” in Latvian). Interpreting the last letter of the abbreviation emotionally and intimately, love and the new question become the meaning of the exhibition. Its message is written in the form of an essay — introduction, arguments, and conclusion. Krista Dzudzilo (1989) and Reinis Dzudzilo (1987) are a married couple who works in visual arts and theatre together. Reinis is a stage designer and Krista is a visual artist and costume designer. Since 2009 they have created stage design and costumes for stage productions in New Riga Theatre, Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian theatre, Latvian National Theatre, Latvian National Opera, Valmiera Drama Theatre, Dirty Deal Teatro, Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum and Andrejosta. Reinis received the Latvian Annual Theatre Awards Spēlmaņu Nakts award Best Stage Designer in 2013 for the stage production of Raudupiete in Valmiera Drama Theatre. Krista was nominated for Latvian Annual Theatre Awards Spēlmaņu Nakts in the category Best Costume Designer for the stage production Vasarnieki in 2014, up until now she also has had 2 solo exhibitions — Nepārejošs, 2013 and Tukšā telpa, 2012. In 2012 both artists received Baltic Theatre Festival in Tartu Award Excellent Visual Image for the stage production IZRĀDE GALS in the Latvian National Theatre.
