TERNA AND E-DISTRIBUZIONE TOGETHER FOR THE SAFETY OF THE ELECTRICITY GRID ON THE AMALFI COAST The work necessary to ensure the safety of the electricity grid in the municipalities of Agerola, Pimonte, Amalfi, Atrani, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello and Scala was completed in 10 days Rome, 25 February 2021 - It only took 10 days to complete the work that involved Terna and E- Distribuzione in the extraordinary maintenance work on the 60 kV power line connecting the Primary cabin in Lettere and the one in Agerola that provides electricity to the Amalfi Coast and is necessary to guarantee continuity and safety of the electricity grids in the municipalities of Agerola, Pimonte, Amalfi, Atrani, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello and Scala. The works, which involved a total of approximately 80 technical and operational resources, ended with the complete replacement of equipment (including the installation of anti-salt insulators) and of the conductors (which date back 50 years), as well as the shield wire along the 13 km of the power line. In order to guarantee continuity of service to the public while the work was being completed, Terna and E-Distribuzione implemented an emergency plan that envisaged the used of approximately 70 generators of different sizes. Furthermore, thanks to 24 hour monitoring of the territory by E- Distribuzione and surveillance of the generators, it was possible to minimise the impact on customers. To limit the amount of time that the construction site would be operational, two companies were used who worked on different sections at the same time. Taking into consideration the particular topography of the area, the use of a helicopter to transport needed materials and equipment was essential to ensure that the work was completed quickly. This also made it possible to not interrupt traffic and to preserve the landscape because it was not necessary to build roads inside of the Parco dei Monti Lattari. The works that were just finished can be considered one of a kind. In fact, this was the first time in the last 50 years that it was necessary to make high-voltage unavailable for several days on the 60 kV Agerola-Lettere power line. This is an important outcome, made possible thanks to the synergy between the two companies, the Prefectures of Naples and Salerno and the municipalities involved. .
