Strong demand for quality cattle across the board. Top price per kilo was 215p for a Limousin x heifer from George Richards Farms of Summercourt purchased by Brian Etherington Meat Co. Ltd. of Scorrier, with their second top price 593kg heifer at 209p/kg and standing top value realising £1,239 to David Wilton of Peter Morris Butchers, St. Columb. Premium steer from the same farm being a Limousin x at 210p/kg, this one bought by R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow. Also over £2 was a 623kg Limousin x steer for Mr. J.A. Skewes of Penwartha making 205p/kg and £1,277 to Messrs. K. & D. Some super Friesians this week including a pair for Messrs. C.J. & J.E. Colwell of Grampound with their 891kg cow realising 126p/kg and £1,123 to Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh. Plenty of demand around the ring. Two Limousin x steers for Mr. R.T. Lobb of St. Ewe topped at £960 with 17 month old British Blue crosses to £945 for Messrs. J.P. Green & Son of Ruan Minor. Some smart young cattle forward including a nice run of South Devons for Mr. H.J. May of Trispen which saw a 9 month old steer top at £715. Leading heifer was a British Blue x from Messrs. T.G. Gwennap & Son of St. Levan at £825. 62 Steers – leading prices 2yo British Blue x to £930 for Messrs. T.G. Gwennap & Son of St. Levan, Penzance 1½yo Limousin x to £960 for Mr. R.T. Ferkin of St. Mewan, St. Austell. Top price of the day was £730 for a young Devon cow closely followed by an older cow at £720. In-calf heifers sold to a top of £620. Good demand around the ring for these cattle. REARING CALVES & STIRKS Auctioneer – Patrick Dennis A fair number of calves forward met a continued firm trade for all on offer. An entry of older Aberdeen Angus crosses for Messrs. H.I. Angwin & Son of Nanstallon saw bulls to £278 and heifers top at £175. Younger British Blue cross bull calves sold to £225 for Messrs. M.J. & R.M. Tremayne of Constantine. 36 Bulls Aberdeen Angus x to £278 for Messrs. H.I. Angwin & Son of Nanstallon, Bodmin, av. £120 British Blue x to £225 for Messrs. M.J. & R.M.
