Macrolides and respiratory fluoroquinolones remain the antibiotics of choice for atypical pneu- monia but there are several new antibiotics currently under development or clinical trials. Both Chlamydophila and Mycoplasma have been associated with chronic diseases, but Legionella seems to occur sporadically and is not associated with chronic diseases.
