Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks Identification and wayfinding for Baltimore’s parks, trails and waterways CG was selected to assist with ongoing design projects for the 6,000 acres of parkland and public space system. The first assignment was the historic Cylburn Arboretum. CG designed identification, interpretive and wayfinding signage for the beautiful 200-acre public garden and Renaissance Revival mansion. Designers integrated graphic elements that reflect the nature and scenery of the arboretum while developing a comprehensive wayfinding plan. CG also created a new graphic language, upgraded logos and signage for the Gwynns Falls Trail, one of the busiest trails in the system. The signs offer directions to adjacent highways, attractions and transit, which will increase the utility of the trails for commuters and weekend cyclists. Project documentation included construction drawings, performance specifications, message schedules and sign location plans.
