M ain Street ain The RDA and Salt Lake City are planning a streetcar for Sugar House that will extend from the Central Pointe TRAX station at 2100 South to 1100 East along approximately 2300 South. The The RDA is renovating the plaza by expanding the amphitheater to accommodate larger concerts and streetcar will make a vital east-west connection to the Sugar House Business District while increasing the size of the skating rink for winter use. The Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City is seeking to bring a modern streetcar line to Downtown Salt Lake City to enhance the City’s walkability, encourage transit-oriented 200 S development, and provide non-automobile transportation options. Completed in 2010, the Street Car Lines feasibility study recommended streetcar routes that cross through several RDA project areas, including the Central Business District, Depot District, West Temple Gateway, and Granary District. The RDA recently won a federal grant to fund an Alternatives Analysis UTAH PERFORMING ArTS CENTER (UPAC - 115 S MAIN ST) ArDMORE PLACE RECONSTRUCTION (APPROX 360 N FROM 200-300 WEST) Central Business District Project Area that will further evaluate the proposed downtown streetcar alignments. The Alternatives West Capitol Hill Project Area Analysis, which is the first step in the process to request federal construction funding In 2008, Mayor Ralph Becker announced plans to develop the Utah Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake for a transit project, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011. The RDA funded the reconstruction of Ardmore Place, from 200 to 300 West, in the City. This facility will provide a 2400-seat theater suitable for touring Broadway productions, as well as support facilities West Capitol Hill Project Area.
