Grants and Funding Procurement Funding has become a critical consideration in planning the scope and implementation program for major infrastructure improvements. Funding considerations include the availability of loans and grants, millage, DDA funding, and cost allocations between various departments. We will provide the Township access to our grants database, which will supply information on funding categories, local match requirements, application and submittal criteria, and funding availability. In addition, we strive to build relationships with private sector grant programs (i.e., private foundations) to help increase our clients’ ability to capture grant funds. Possible funding sources for the project outside of the recent millage may include an MDOT Safe Routes to School Program grant (proximity to local schools), MDOT Transportation Alternatives Program grant, National Resources Trust Fund grant, and inquiring about partnering with local transportation projects (MDOT, Kent County, etc) to complete those trail segments that follow existing roadways. There are options available to potentially use the approved millage and the local match to stretch the Township’s dollar farther. There is also the potential for setting up phasing of the segments to bond and do a few larger projects to be more efficient and stretch the Township’s funding. Bottom Line FTCH has a reputation for delivering on our promises. We take pride in serving our clients, and over 85 percent of our work is through repeat clients – a testimony to the level of service and quality we provide.
