Multiplying each of these interactions by a hundred years is an awe-inspiring reflection. Of course, 2020 is not the milestone year that we had in mind. Last year, we had been planning to use our 100th anniversary year as an opportunity to gather together in a series of celebrations all across the Archdiocese of Hartford. Little did we know that all of our lives would change so dramatically because of COVID-19. True to our mission and history, we have adapted to these circumstances and remained a vital and life-sustaining resource to people who turn to us in need. Thanks to the dedicated work of our employees and the generosity of our donors and benefactors, we have been able to continue caring for individuals and families struggling with lost employment, unstable housing, and hunger. We have continued to serve intellectually and developmentally disabled adults in group residences. We have continued providing counseling to people struggling with anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. We have remained available to preschoolers, school aged children, and their families in our school readiness and community school programs. All of these and more are an expression of living out the message of the Gospel, no matter the challenges we are facing as a society. While the delivery of services has changed this year, we remain committed to our mission of Providing Help and Creating Hope and will continue the ministry of charity to those who need us.
