prcf Administration Administration Business Planning & Information Marketing & Finance Processes Development Technology Community Outreach About: PRCF Administraon division encompasses the core business processes of the department. Technology - PRCF completed the selection process for an improved registration and reservation soft- ware. The Active Network software will be tailored to meet the unique needs of the department and implemented in stages beginning in the Fall of 2013. - A new Ticketing System was implemented for the Convention Center and Amphitheater. The Ticket Mob system will help streamline the sale and marketing of show tickets offering a more user-friendly design for customers. CAPRA The department successfully completed the Self-Assessment Workbook and on- site review of documentation required to attain national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies. Final review and award of accreditation status will take place in October of 2013. Marketing & Community Outreach - Completed a full year cycle of digital on-line brochures for customers - Printing and distribution of a Spring & Summer Activity Guide to 125,000 residents - Representation at community outreach events including Building Strong Neighborhood events, Council Breakfasts, and a variety of city sponsored special events Finance & Personnel Services Financial and management staff worked closely with city-wide initiatives to develop and im- plement City-Edge, supporting all financial and personnel service data for the city. Staff at- tended over 3,000 hours of training and database development in preparation for this very significant process improvement to business functions for the City of Mesa. Capital Improvement Projects/Bond Projects PRCF fostered support for a $70 million dollar bond initiative that was successfully passed by vote on the November 2012 election ballot. To date: - Completed a full year of construction management for Riverview - Acquired 8 acres of new park land for Monterey Park - Opened 10 construction projects for public bidding - Only got stuck in the mud at Riverview 5 times prcf Adaptive Recreation Adaptive Recreation Special Events Programs & Classes Inclusion Partnerships About: PRCF Adapve Recreaon offers programs, classes, special events, and inclusion services for parcipants with physical or intellectu- al disabilies or requiring special accommodaons. Programs & Classes — Summer Camps The 2012 summer was the largest camp season to date with 140 campers attending Fiesta. Wiggles and giggles, a new pre- school program for toddlers with disabilities is also at capaci- ty for all summer sessions. reaching capacity. the program Monday-Thursday for 6 weeks in June and July. Special Events Co-hosted the 2012 National Junior Disability Championships, July 21-28. 115 junior athletes ages 7-21, with various physi- cal and visual disabilities, from 12 different states and 3 coun- tries; including as far away as Thailand competed in 6 differ- ent sports. Co-hosted the 2013 Desert Challenge games, one of six Grand Prix style sanctioned events for the International Paralympic Games. The event locations include: Dubai, UAE, Beijing, Chi- na; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Grosseto Italy; Mesa, Arizona, USA and Berlin, Germany. This year’s event had the highest participa- tion with over 250 coaches and athletes participating. Partnerships Promoted a sense of community by partnering with The East Valley Special Cooperative to provide special events for par- ticipants 16 years of age and older with disabilities. The “You Look Marvelous Fashion Show “ raised $11,000. Sponsors for the show this year included Kohl’s Department Store, Desert Club, Sweet Cakes, and Avalon Beauty School. The event had 63 models this year. prcf Athletics Athletics Adult Sports Youth Sports CYG Sports Field Rentals About: PRCF Athlecs is composed of adult sports leagues, youth sports leagues and special events, community youth group field usage, field light allocaons and sports complex field rentals for programs, tournaments and private rentals. Athlecs programs and facili- es provide a safe place for people to play and recreate, while promong healthy lifestyles. Photos: Adult Sports Delivered recreation experiences that inspired healthy life- style by offering adult leagues in softball, senior softball, flag football, volleyball and kickball, with over 172,000 participants on over 1,200 different teams. Youth Sports Presented league sports and instructional camps in flag foot- ball, la crosse, soccer, touch rugby, basketball, volleyball, multi-sport, field hockey, fencing, handball and badminton. Presented four youth sports special events including the “Splish, Splash and Dash” youth duathalon with 113 partici- pants. These programs inspired youth and their parents to participate in activities that promote health and well being. CYG and Sports Field Rentals Promoted a sense of community by partnering with 26 com- munity youth groups and allocating 75 fields at 25 locations to facilitate sports field use for over 3000 youth. Provided sports field use for internal and external programs and tournaments, and generated over $600,000 while provid- ing a safe place for people to recreate. prcf Aquatics Special Events The Grand Prix , a 4 day event hosted at Skyline Pool, included 280 swimmers/Olympic Swimmers, 40 coaches, and 100 officials/staff and generated an aendance of 3,900 spectators. The esmated economic impact to Mesa for this event is $298,000. Media coverage included 9 Arizona Republic arcles, 10 Swimming World Magazine Aquatics arcles, 33 Swimming World Videos posted online, connual coverage by Universal Sports Network, and 1,768,300 twier followers. Public Competitive Lessons Training & Recruitment Partnerships About: The Aquacs division manages a regional system of nine city pools, bringing the enjoyment of water acvies to city of mesa resi- dents. Through partnerships with Mesa Public Schools, and club teams the Aquacs division is able to offer a diversity of programs and services from lessons and safety programs to compeve dive, swim, and synchronized programs. Training & Recruitment Photos: To insure the highest quality of trained staff: - 141 potential new lifeguards were evaluated through skills testing - 98 returning staff attended Lifeguard Skills Test Review - 191 summer staff were re-certified in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED Jr. Lifeguard Volunteer Program Planning and investing for the future is the theme of the Jr. Lifeguarding program: - 283 Jr. Lifeguards were trained and assisted pool operations - 19,102 volunteer hours of service were provided - $376,518 worth of in-kind services helped improve and extend services to mesa residents. Swim Lessons Preparing mesa for enjoying the life-long benefits of swimming and water sports: - 9,768 participants attended swim lessons - 938 lesson scholarships were distributed and - 29 competitive scholarships were offered through Making Waves Competitive Programs Offering Mesa residents the life-long benefits of swimming and water sports: - 20% increase from 2011/2012 - 2110 Swim Team athletes - 324 Diving athletes - 224 Synchronized Swimming athletes - 120 Water Polo athletes prcf Red Mountain Center Red Mountain Center Operations Fitness Special Interest And More! About: The Red Mountain Center offers group fitness and wellness classes, walking track, climbing wall, youth acvity center, kids club, fitness center, gymnasium and special interest classes. The facility has been open since 1999 and is a 65,000 square foot facility that offers a safe place for people to play, celebrate, contemplate and recreate. Photos: Facility Operations Provided a safe place to play, celebrate, contemplate and rec- reate for over 3,500 pass holders and had a total of 196,000 participant uses. The RMC offers year-round activities and facility rentals for the community. Fitness & Wellness Programs Delivered recreation that inspired healthy lifestyles by offer- ing 98 group fitness classes per week (5096 classes per year). Classes offered include: Zumba, yoga, Pilates, step, cycling, boot camp, meditation, kick boxing and sculpting. Special Interest Programs Delivered recreation that inspired personal growth by offering 384 classes with over 14,300 participant uses. Classes of- fered include: music, tumbling, literacy, language, pre school learning, communication, creativity, Lego building, pet CPR, babysitting, cake decorating, film, photography, ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom, hip hop, hula, belly dance, soccer, baseball, karate, aikido, tai chi and capoeira. prcf Recreation Recreation Summer Special Events Fun n Fitness Volunteers About: PRCF offers a wide variety of programs and services to meet the unique needs of our community. The Summer Recreaon programs provide camps for youth during summer break. The Fun n Fitness mobile recreaon program extends the reach of services by traveling to underserved areas in the community. Special Events offer free acvies and entertainment for the whole family, and offer informaon on all city services. The volunteer program allows the department to provide more with the exisng resources.
