Rendez-vous à Nice is the name of a new drama series for young people, produced in Nice, on the French Côte d’Azur. The series is intended for students of French as a foreign language. In 20 short continuous episodes, divided into two levels, A1 and A2, we follow five young people in their daily life and the development of their friendship. There is romance in the air! The students will wait impatiently to find out what happens next in this story filmed on location in Nice. The story outline: Part / level one (A 1) The main characters of our story, Charlotte, Chadia, Patrick and Jean-Charles, are all students in a local lycée. The story focuses on those young people and on Thomas, who studies to become a chef in a voca- tional school. Patrick is new to the school and he is not at all a good student, at least not initially. His results are far from satisfactory. Jean-Charles is Charlotte’s boyfriend. He believes himself superior to the others and keeps making fun of Patrick. However, the more the story progresses, the less Charlotte appreciates Jean-Charles’s attitude toward Patrick. Chadia who is of Moroccan origin has tender feelings for Thomas and Thomas shares her feelings. The relationship between Charlotte and Jean-Charles deteriorates gradually. Charlotte resents his arro- gance toward Patrick. Charlotte begins to help Patrick with his English studies and gradually this gives positive results. At the end of the semester, there is a big party. The relationship between Charlotte and Patrick keeps getting warmer. At the party Chadia says goodbye to Thomas. She is leaving with her family for vacation in Morocco. Part / level two (A 2) The students gather after the school holidays. But Chadia is not there. Her friends worry. Why has she stayed in Morocco? Has she been forced to marry a cousin? Charlotte and Patrick are dating. Patrick has changed a lot and he works better in school. Thomas is in love with Chadia and he worries about her absence. But soon Chadia phones him and tells him that she will return. For various reasons, Charlotte and not Thomas, goes to airport to welcome her. The return day of Chadia coincides with Patrick’s half-sister Hélène’s arrival from Canada. Patrick is there but both Charlotte and Patrick are unaware of the presence of the other. Charlotte sees Patrick and Helen together and furious, not knowing that Helen is Patrick’s half-sister, she decides to break with Patrick. On her return from Morocco, Chadia is accompanied by her cousin Ahmed, the boy whom she thinks might be the cousin the family want her to marry. Fortunately for Chadia and Thomas, this is not the case. But one obstacle remains for Thomas and Chadia: her parents’ refusal to accept Thomas as their daugh- ter’s boyfriend. Charlotte is reconciled with Patrick and she and her mother decide to try to convince Chad- ia’s parents to let their daughter see Thomas. Everything ends with a big party on the beach. All the friends are celebrating the bac and the end of the school.
