University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, Performance, Jazz Studies Emphasis Teaching Experience • Full time Faculty, Art Institute of California, Inland Empire CA 12/01/2011 to Current Employed Courses Taught: Special Topics Project based class exploring the use of audio and video for live performance and installation with an emphasis on the use of Max/Msp and Abelton Live. Senior Project 1 and 2 This course initiates a two-quarter long comprehensive project, which was integral to students’ final portfolios. Students employed their cumulative skills to pre-produce a significant, sophisticated, multi-track digital audio work. Projects were carried out individually or in groups based on the needs of the class as determined by the instructor. Fundamentals of Audio Introduction to the fundamentals of audio production. Introduction to acoustics, digital and analog recording, audio technology, and audio related terminology. Audio Technology 1 and 2 This course examined the principles of audio signals and the equipment used to record, process, and encode audio content. Students learned to develop an understanding of signal flow of audio systems using block diagrams. A survey of audio transmission, manipulation, and delivery systems including cables, connectors, basic stereo mixers, microphones, amplifiers, and loudspeakers. This class also focused on recording and mixing techniques. Live Sound Reinforcement 1 and 2 In this course students learned to set up and operate various audio equipment for a typical live sound reinforcement scenarios. Topics included reading block diagrams of audio systems, wiring speakers, connecting powers, testing and adjusting microphones, troubleshooting sound systems, and fine- tuning reinforcement effects. This class also placed focus on the understanding of room acoustics, sub-woofer coupling/arrays, and effective cable management. Daniel Eaton CV 2015 Digital Audio 1 This course introduced students to the theories, practices, and tools used in digital audio production and techniques of non-linear digital audio editing, focusing on the fundamental theories and concepts behind various types of digital audio tools. Through lectures and in-class projects, students developed knowledge and skills needed to operate non-linear audio workstations. This was a Pro-Tools based class. Digital Audio 2 This course expanded on the content of Digital Audio 1. Expounding on the theories, practices, and tools used in digital audio production and techniques of non-linear digital audio editing, focusing on the fundamental theories and concepts behind various types of digital audio tools. Digital Audio 4 This course expanded on the content of Digital Audio 2 and 3. This course placed a particular emphasis on audio mastering techniques and distribution methods. Furthering students knowledge on digital mixing techniques, this course also introduced students to multi-channel mixing concepts for surround sound. Post-Production Sound and Advanced Post Production Sound This course was Pro-Tools centered with a focus on audio mixing techniques in stereo and surround sound, Pro Tools session management, creative sound design for film and multi- media, and operating advanced mixing consoles such as the D-Command and SSL Duality. Students worked on various projects designed specifically to meet upper level learning goals pertaining to audio postproduction, as it is relevant to personal creative work and industry standards in film and video. • Part time Faculty, SAE Institute, Los Angles California. 06/01/2015-01/01/2016 Courses Taught: Module 4 Audio distribution methods, music business, surround sound mixing in Pro Tools, Post Production, music production, and liv sound reinforcement. 12 week long course. This clinic was for the composition faculty and student body. Located in the Bob Cole Conservatory of music. Following the clinic there was a 1-hour performance. • Clinic and Performance at the Riverside Art Museum, 02/23/2013 to 02/24/2013 “Experimental Sound for Filmmakers” A two-day lecture and performance on experimental sound design for filmmakers. Day two consisted of a live audio video performance utilizing the trombone as the control device for live video manipulation via laptop. • Steim Residency, Amsterdam Holland 08/20/2010 to 09/06/2010 A two-week long residency creating a custom USB performance interfaces.
