Sue Fox announced 14 adult members, 4 junior members and 7guests present. The door prizes were won by Sue Fox, Irwin Shenker, Zoe Ryan, Lola Smith. Guests were invited to pick up an application to join the club. Committees: Junior Advisor Coordinator (Annette Nelson): Audrey ran the program this week, topic: Communica- tion/Jr Achievement Award. The NWFederation has a contest for juniors to submit a “resume” of what they’ve accomplished (school, home, rock/hobby, chores, etc) – can win $25-$100! Seattle Regional (Lyle Vogelpohl): The North Seattle Lapidary & Gem Club’s show is cancelled (this club is the “parent” of our club). Northwest Federation (Lyle Vogelpohl): the Federation show and convention will be in Yakima 4/28- 29. Labor Day weekend – 5 day workshop in central Oregon ($350 including classes). This year there will be a carving class for an extra fee. Contact Lyle with questions. Treasurer Report (Audrey Vogelpohl): At the end of December 2017, we had $300 more than we start- ed the year with. Doing well. Editor's report (Mike Wall): Want to write an article? This Month — February Snacks: Russ Thoman (30-40) The recent article on concretions in the Petro- glyphs reminded us of our 2004 trip across Kansas Drinks: Diane Christensen (30-40) on US Highway 70. There are many rock for- mations in Kansas and we were impressed with the ——————————————————- number of concretions at Rock City. These are huge sandstone concretions in an area about the Follow-on month reminder: size of two football fields -- 200 rocks, with some being as large as houses, dot the landscape.
