Minnesota Duluth split a home series against 4-4 tie against Clarkson and a 4-3 (ot) victory over St. Cloud State and Notre Dame of the CCHA, winning 4-3 on Oct. 7 and falling 5-3 on both Michigan Tech and Minnesota won a pair of home contests. The Oct. 8. North Dakota, hosting the Ice Breaker Tournament, won 4-3 Huskies, under first-year head coach Mel Pearson, defeated American over Air Force last Friday and fell 6-2 to Boston College in the title International by 4-3 and 3-1 scores while the Golden Gophers blanked game on Saturday.
