The letters relate to the Livingston Family affairs, principally matters concerning the family estate "Livinjston l.'anor" and they are most numerous for the period 1787-1840, There (/are hoiYever two informative letters dated 1858 and 1860 from members of the family situated in San Francisco, The documents consist of -wills, surveys, checks, notes, accounts and similiar papers. In addition there is a quantity of miscelllaneous clippings, mementoes and the like. The collection v/as presented by members of the Livingston Family to the Columbia University Libraries in memory of James Duane Livingston * 81, Alumni trustee and one of the founders of the Society of the Early Eighties.
