Request/ Response: I am writing to make a Freedom of Information request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would like to know: 1. The total number of trees felled by Rutland County Council for the years 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 (up to the most recent month of available data) For each year of data, please state and break down: The reason for the felling of said trees The cost to the council of felling trees The locations of trees felled The species of trees felled and how many If trees felled were street trees or rural Answer: 2016 felled 8 trees at £778.72. Sites and species unknown, records do not exist for this year. 2017 felled 60 trees at £3,560. Sites and species unknown, records do not exist for this year. 2018 109 trees at £4213. Locations included Oakham, Tickencote, Uppingham, Empingham, Essendine, Ryhall, Ketton, South Luffenham, Stretton, Whitwell, Belmesthorpe, Greetham, Ayston, Wardley Reasons include safety, electric line clearance, obstruction, and property damage Species felled include Acer campestre, Acer cappadocicum, Acer platanoides, Acer pseudoplatanus, Aesculus hippocastanum, Betula utilis, Corylus avellana, Crataegus laevigata, Crataegus monogyna, Crataegus x laevalleei, Fraxinus excelsior, Ilex aquifolium, Larix decidua, Malus, Pinus nigra, Prunus cerasifera, Prunus dulcis, Prunus inisititia, Prunus padus, Prunus spinosa, Robinia pseudoacacia, Salix caprea, Salix fragilis, Sambucus nigra, Sorbus aria, Sorbus aucuparia, Sorbus x thuringiaca, Tilia cordata, Tilia x europaea, Ulmus glabra, Ulmus minor, Ulmus procera, X CUpressocyparis leylandii 2019 44 trees at £2672. Locations included Oakham, Lyndon, Langham Cottesmore, Uppingham, Empingham, Ketton, Ryhall, South Luffenham, Market Overton. Reasons include safety, obstruction and property damage. Species felled include Acer campestre, Acer pseudoplatanus, Amelanchier arborea, Aesculus hippocastanum, Betula pendula, Cotoneaster, Crataegus monogyna, Fraxinus excelsior, Ginkgo biloba, Prunus sargentii, Prunus serrulata, Prunus spinosa, Salix alba, Sambucus nigra, Sorbus aria, Sorbus aucuparia, Sorbus commixta, Sorbus x intermedia, Thuja occidentalis, Ulmus procera, Both rural and urban. 2020 75 trees at £5295.57. Locations at Hambleton, Uppingham, Stamford, Braunston, Oakham, Ryhall, Ketton, Belton, Market Overton, Edith Weston, Cottesmore, Langham, Tinwell. Reasons include safety, electric line clearance, obstruction and property damage.
