INTRODUCTION Bath & North East Somerset Council is preparing a new Local Plan for its area which covers the period up to 2036. The Local Plan is principally concerned with the use and development of land. As part of the development of the Local Plan, the Council has produced an ‘Issues and Options’ document and supporting Background Papers explaining the emerging approach for these areas. The Council is seeking views of stakeholders on the proposed approach. A Housing & Economic Land Availability Assessment is being prepared to support the development of the Local Plan. Issues and Options phase 1a covers the emerging strategy, the Strategic Development Locations identified in the Joint Spatial Plan and housing needs and student accommodation. At this stage of the Local Plan, the Housing & Economic Land Availability Assessment does not need to assess sites, because the strategy has not yet been established. Once the strategy has been established, sites can be assessed in order to deliver the locational strategy. The maps and accompanying list show the sites that have been identified to date.
