IPRA/IAPD Soaring to New Heights Conference – January 24-26, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency, 151 East Upper Wacker, Chicago, Illinois. 4 Journal of Proceedings REGULAR MEETING – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CHAMPAIGN COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT Thursday, February 15, 2018 Leonhard Recreation Center, Champaign Park District, Champaign, Illinois The Champaign County Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners met at a Regular Meeting, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Leonhard Recreation Center, Champaign Park District, Champaign, Illinois. Commissioner Kerins called the Regular Meeting to order at 6:07 P.M. Commissioner Goodman called the roll. The following Commissioners were present: Goodman, Hays and Kerins. It was noted Commissioner Livesay would be arriving late. Commissioner Herakovich was absent with notice. Commissioner Livesay arrived at 6:14 P.M. REMOTE ATTENDANCE – None PUBLIC COMMENT - None AGENDA MODIFICATION – None APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA A. Minutes of Regular Meeting on January 25, 2017 B. Monthly Staff Reports C. IAPD/IPRA Conference Workshop Summary Commissioner Hays moved approval of the consent agenda. Commissioner Goodman seconded. A voice vote was taken. Motion carried. COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT A. Forest Preserve Friends Foundation – Executive Director Wuellner advised the group approved a salary increase for the shared Administrative Assistant, discussed first time donor follow-up, and election of officers, which Wuellner noted stayed the same as 2017. Commissioner Livesay also noted the group discussed the FPFF audit needs and agreed to keep with the District’s audit firm, but stated the group had requested that, if possible, it prefers contracting with a local audit firm. Lastly, Livesay noted Champaign Cycle will have its used bike sale on May 5th with profits going to the FPFF for the KRT. Commissioners asked if a list of first time donors could be supplied to them and also asked for FPFF members contact info. B. Commissioner Comments – Commissioner Hays, his wife and daughter recently enjoyed time at Middle Fork River Forest Preserve. Hays suggested a Middle Fork River clean- up, and offered to work with local groups to set it up. Hays expressed relief that the hog farm location near Middle Fork is no longer being considered, and also reported CAC members along with Lisa Sprinkle and Matt Kuntz gave a program on the Dark Skies to the Rantoul Rotary Club that was well received, and a nice article was printed in the Rantoul Press. Commissioner Livesay was happy to see the purchase of the recycle containers for the District, information on the Weaver Park study, and the upcoming earthwork and tree removal for phase 2A of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. Livesay asked staff if they will be making direct contact with St. Joseph property owners along the trail and reach out to St Joseph residents? Staff reported affirmatively. Livesay expressed it would be good for the District to be represented at the 5 Regular Meeting Minutes February 15, 2018 Page 2 of 3 Commissioner Comments cont’d. St. Joseph Festival this year to answer and address any public concerns. Commissioner Kerins commended staff for their work and particularly appreciated the shared training the District had held with the CPD and UPD. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT
