There are a handful of self-appointed local surf gurus out there, but there is only one “Jersey Devil.” Dean was kind enough to give my daughter Grace her very first surf lesson, which is documented in photos in this issue. We don’t work off of long range editorial calendars at The Boardwalk Journal; so many times we decide our cover concepts and features on the fly. I would like to acknowledge the passing of a young man named Isaac Baggs Jr. who died on Labor Day in a car accident on Route 30.
