Catechins (Bitter ingredients of Green Tea) - reduces risk of cancer, restrains tumors, reduces risk of mutations, lowers blood cholesterol, prevents high blood pressure, prevents high blood sugar, kills bacteria, fights with flu virus, prevents cavities, fights cryogenic bacteria, prevents bad breath. Caffeine - keeps you awake (relieves fatigue or sleepiness), works as a diuretic, has much lower amounts than coffee or colas. Vitamin C - reduces stress, prevents cold and flu TYPES OF GREEN TEA Bancha - made from larger tea leaves, usually picked in June. It is low in caffeine. It is an everyday tea drunk with meals Genmaicha - is Bancha mixed with roasted brown rice. This is a milk tea with a hint of popcorn in the taste and aroma. It is mild in flavour, is golden in color and low in caffeine. Hojicha - is Bancha or Sencha toasted over a flame. With a distinctive aroma, it is mild to the palate. Matcha - The leaves of Matcha keep their shape throughout production and are ground into a powder at the end of the process. This a fine powdered tea used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. This tea has a slightly bitter taste and was made to go well with Japanese cakes. Mugicha - is not technically a green tea. It is made from toasted barley and is often drunk cold. No caffeine. Sencha - is made from soft young tea leaves. It is usually harvested in May or June. Once harvested, the leaves are steamed, roll and then dried. This tea is light green in color and makes up to 80% of Japanese green tea. Higher quality Sencha is usually served to guests. .
